Dependable Truck & Tank Limited was founded in 1975 and is, as it began, a family operated business. Our innovative design and engineering concepts allow us to manufacture cargo tanks, trailers and emergency vehicles to our client’s specifications. We manufacture versatile cargo tanks and trailer tankers for the distribution of petroleum products and other bulk related products. We also manufacture tankers for municipal maintenance applications. Our custom tanks range in size from 2000 liter truck-mounted units to 60,000 liter B-train unit

Production & Service Support Manager – Heavy Trucks

Overview

The Production & Service Support Manager is responsible for overseeing all support functions related to the fabrication, assembly, and servicing of heavy trucks—including tanker trucks, fire apparatus, and specialty-built units. This role ensures efficient workflow, high-quality workmanship, and effective communication between production, service, and management teams. The Manager will coordinate fabrication, welding, electrical, mechanical, and piping activities while supporting preventative maintenance (PM) programs and general service operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Production & Fabrication Oversight

  • Coordinate day-to-day production activities across fabrication, welding, mechanical, electrical, and piping departments.
  • Support the build process of tanker trucks, fire trucks, and specialty equipment from concept to completion.
  • Monitor workflow to maintain timelines, resolve bottlenecks, and ensure alignment with project schedules.
  • Review build sheets, drawings, and specifications to support teams in completing accurate and high-quality work.

Service & PM Program Management:

  • Oversee scheduling and coordination of preventative maintenance (PM) services for customer and internal fleet vehicles.
  • Support the service department in diagnosing issues, assigning work, and facilitating efficient repair turnaround times.
  • Monitor workflow to maintain timelines, resolve bottlenecks, and ensure alignment with project schedules.
  • Ensure all service documentation, work orders, and inspections are completed accurately and in a timely manner.

Cross-Department Coordination

  • Act as a central communication point between production, service, parts, and management teams.
  • Assist with sourcing parts, tools, and materials needed to maintain workflow and service commitments.
  • Work closely with project managers to ensure customer requirements, timelines, and quality expectations are met.

Quality Assurance & Safety

  • Promote and maintain high safety standards across all production and service activities.
  • Conduct spot checks, quality reviews, and ensure compliance with industry standards and internal processes.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across fabrication and service operations.

Team Support & Leadership:

  • Provide daily guidance and support to technicians, welders, electricians, fabricators, and service staff.
  • Assist with onboarding, training, and mentoring new team members.
  • Help create a culture of collaboration, accountability, and open communication.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in heavy truck manufacturing, upfitting, fabrication, or service operations (tanker or fire truck experience is an asset).
  • Background in service coordination or production support in a shop environment.
  • Ability to read technical drawings, schematics, and build documentation.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Additional Assets:

  • Experience with fire apparatus builds or tanker truck fabrication.
  • Knowledge of Canadian motor vehicle safety standards (CMVSS), NFPA, or related industry codes.
  • Familiarity with ERP or service management systems.
